The ancient city of Monte Albán sits majestically on a hill outside Oaxaca and is Mexico’s largest pre-Colombian city. Slabs of stone and earth from 1200-1521 AD provide the inspiration for this beautiful texture that reads, on second look, as a pattern. The irregular elevations and thickness of the fabric were created by adding yarns of bouclé and chenille, both shiny and matte, to recall the flat plains and rising levels of the ancient site.
